R&R are proud to have been appointed as the Interior Designers of Rapid7’s newest UK office situated in the heart of Reading, at the BREEAM excellent rated No.2 Forbury Place and occupying 22,000 square feet of grade A office space.

Our designs were delivered over 10 months (from concept to completion) in full collaboration with our partner team at SPACE, who expertly managed the construction process and supported in technical coordination, and with hdp Building Surveyors who delivered the project management. This is the second project after Belfast that we have worked alongside these teams for Rapid7.

This full hybrid workspace gives the cyber security teams a variety of work-settings to utilise alongside open-plan desking, which is organised into neighbourhoods. The atrium enabled a focal point for the layout, with the reception at one side and the multi-use games/meeting space and cafe on the other connected through walkways, with feature meeting rooms looking out onto the communal spaces.

Rapid7’s design philosophy is based on creating an ‘audacious’ workplace that is BOLD, UNEXPECTED and IMMERSIVE and for Reading, the additional theme that has run alongside this has been to celebrate the ‘Cultural Heritage’ of the local area. This was displayed throughout the feature spaces including the Library; inspired by Reading University, the Great Western Railway & River Thames – through the use of blue, rich fabrics and booth style seating and the Visitor Lounge space; inspired by Reading’s beer producing history – the Victorian style black and white mosaic flooring with Rapid7 logo detailing, brick walls, mesh booth seating and low-level eclectic pendant feature lighting.

R&R were also commissioned to create the Environmental Graphics scheme for the project, which included 9 beautiful infographic wallpapers - data visualisations all inspired by famous Reading icons, events and locations and bespoke to each room’s theme.
