JL STEPHENS
BRAND RE-DESIGN FOR FAMILY RUN PREMIER BUILDING COMPANY ESTABLISHED IN 1948.
SCOPE: BRAND IDENTITY RE-DESIGN
SECTOR: CONSTRUCTION
JL Stephens is a long established Welsh building company, founded in 1948 and provides excellent building services to both domestic and commercial clients. They have been using the same brand identity for many years and felt a new look was needed to bring this heritage company more up to date.
The use of the colour blue has always been used since the beginning of the company, so to keep this was the only request from the client, therefore they were incredibly open to new ideas and excited to see a big change to their branding.
Our final design was inspired from technical building drawings or blueprints, construction materials such as pipework and scaffolding, and the 3 letter abbreviation of the company name. We have darkened the original blue slightly to be richer, and the logo form is designed to be highly visible and recognisable from a distance (e.g. on vans and construction site signage.)
Various marketing collateral and visual mock-ups were presented to the client for consideration, alongside suggestions for website and social media updates, which we hope the business will begin to phase in over the next year.
‘The deep blue and white compliment one another and create a high visible design which can easily recognised at a distance, and the logo design is inspired by blueprints and construction materials.’
“Our logo has been the same for such a long time, I was a bit nervous about making a change. But I am really, really glad we have! The new look is clean and fresh, exactly what we have been needing for a long time. Keeping the blue was very important to me, so I love the new tone and can’t wait to get the new brand out there and get one of those new T-shirts on!”
